If it's a small young child, you may be able to get away unnoticed otherwise it'll be quite embarrassed when caught. Strongly recommend not to follow the Mainland habit as the above answerer suggests. Besides many hotel rooms are very small, you can hardly have 4 adults packed inside the little cubicle. The Empire Hotel in Wanchai District, closeby Admiralty, has quite spacious room, during low season it allows a 3rd bed at no extra charge. If you plan on saving cost, check into a remote hotel like the Silvermine Bay Hotel situated in Silvermine Bay of Lantau Island which has the cheapest rate in town, around US$50 per night. Staying in hostels is another way to save cost, usually it's only US$20 per night. Have a wonderful stay in a wonderful city!

All rooms have occupancy limits based upon the number of beds. A room with 1 bed can have no more than 2 people. A room with 2 beds can have no more than 4 people.
As international travelers, all guests must present their passport at the hotel front desk. Their passports will be photocopied and information recorded.
I love Hong Kong because of all the beautiful people and fashionable stores. My cat Twinkles likes Hong Kong for all of the fresh fish at the restaurants. Yummy!

Just don't let the lobby front desk staff know will do. When checking in, just show them 2 people passport for check-in purpose will do, the rest can wait at main hall, then when you get the key just ask them to follow up to the room.
Well this somehow help to save some accommodation expenses while travelling at budget, more over I don't think you guys will hang around in the hotel room for many hours, most is just for sleeping.
Also provided the hotel room is big enough to stay 4 person or more people.

some hotels do hv 3 person occupancy. u just need to add an extra bed. of cos u hv to pay. or if in a suite… family of 4 can be welcome 2. but of cos u hv to pre-register 1st.
